ABOUT MOBB REPORT RADIO

Mobb Report Radio is about the advancement and evolution of bay area rap/hip hop culture, and was created as an alternative to commercial radio. The local commercial radio stations play mostly mainstream and southern rap, overlooking the large amount of talented rap artists we have right here at home. Mobb Report Radio is a non-profit entity, which gives us the freedom to put the music first, not corporate interests. 

THE TYPE OF MUSIC WE PLAY

We play mostly “street” and “instrospective” music. If your music sounds mainstream, or every other word is “swag”, you probably won’t get on rotation. There are plenty of radio stations that cater to that type of sound. We encourage artistic authenticity, and will give priority to artists who have a unique story to tell, or a sound that is original. We also have a deep appreciation for bay area rap history, so expect to hear plenty of old school Mobb Music!

WHY WE ONLY PLAY BAY AREA RAP

We believe that niche markets are important to display the character of a region or sound. There are plently of radio stations that play a mixed-region format, and we felt that there should be a place to go where you know that you’re going to hear stuff from the bay the second you Tune in. When people from other states and countries tune in to Mobb Report Radio and hear hours of amazing music by bay area artists, they have no choice but to realize how much talent there is and what a unique musical culture we have. We also want to encourage artist collaborations with other regions, and support all local movements across the globe.
