There’s a lot of dope music that we can’t play simply because the shit sounds like it was recorded in your garage and wasn’t mixed properly. Not everyone has the right ear or the training to mix their own music, so even if you record it yourself, we recommend getting it professionally mixed and mastered to increase your chances of airplay.
DON’T IMITATE SOUTHERN RAPPERS OR SOUTHERN PRODUCERS
Mobb Report Radio is about promoting BAY AREA rap / hip hop culture. If you sound too much like you from down south, we probably won’t fuck with you. No disrespect to the south… from Memphis to ATL, their music is dope... but Mobb Report Radio is about preserving the legacy and history of bay area music. Mobb music and hyphy music, and bay area backpack rap is gonna get first priority over trap anthems.
DON’T SEND US SWAG / COMMERCIAL SHIT
We are also an alternative to commercial radio, and for those in the streets who want to hear music about day to day life, not just club music. Swag anthems and music that’s just about poppin bottles and trickin off your money on strippers is probably not gonna make it to the airwaves. Send that shit to KMEL.
TELL REAL STORIES WITH YOUR MUSIC
Whether your music is street or backpack, telling stories about your real life will get you priority. Authenticity is something that’s missing from most music these days. Repeating the same cliches about getting money is cool sometimes, but it gets old. If you’re saying the same shit everyone else is saying, chances are lower you will get played. Don’t be afraid to express yourself or tell stories from your real life in your music.
